Buying childrens clothes isn’t much different from buying clothes for camping and hiking: If it’s not rugged, it’s not worth buying.
Durability is absolutely key for buying children’s clothes. You don’t want to be the mum or dad constantly telling your child not to play on the swing, not to go outside, not to get dirty or have any fun out of the house. Durable clothes can mean the difference between being the parent who lets their kids get dirty and have fun, and being the parent whose children never get to go outside at all.
Kids love climbing trees and hopping fences, they fall down and scrape their knees and they run around and stay more physically active than your average adult. This means that their clothing needs to be more durable.
When shopping for clothing for your kids, a good rule to keep in mind is that delicate clothes are really only good for special occasions. From day to day, kids are going to be running around and getting up to something, and they need durable, rugged clothes to do so. Slacks and dress shirts and Sunday dresses are fine for, well, Sundays, but on Saturdays, when the kids are fresh out of school, during the Summer vacation, kids need something that’s going to hold up to some wear and tear, and that’s where durable, rugged clothing comes in.
If it’s not rugged, if it’s not durable, it’s only going to cost you more money in the long run as you have to replace it all the more often. Do yourself and your wallet, not to mention your kids a favour and buy some clothing that can withstand a little bit of outdoor activity.
